I’ll admit that I tend to be one of those people who starts to think about Christmas way too early.  Sure, I decorate my porch each year for Fall, but on the inside nothing is ever done because my mind is already focused on what I’ll be doing for Christmas decorations this year.  I was looking around my living room thinking that I should add a little Fall to the inside of our home.

With the leaves changing into their new beautiful hues of red, orange, and yellow, I felt inspired to use a part of nature to make something.  We have plenty of leaves in our yard, so I went on a mission to find some good ones I could use for an easy craft.

My original thought was to use a mason jar to add leaves onto, but then I remembered that I recently received flowers that came in a red vase.  I thought that this would be even better to highlight the leaves.

I did not have any Mod Podge around and did not feel like making a trip to the craft store, especially on the weekend…talk about nightmare 🙂  So instead I used rubber cement to help me apply the leaves on the vase.

What you’ll need for this craft:

Leaves (real or fake)

Mason Jar or Vase

Rubber Cement or Mod Podge (if using Mod Podge you’ll need a foam brush)

Rope, Yarn, Raffia, etc.

Once I had applied some of the leaves I honestly wasn’t sure how it would turn out and started to second guess myself.

But I have to say, when it is lit it looks so good and really adds some warmth to the space.  It’s amazing how the red of the vase really comes through the leaves.

This DIY Fall candle holder was so simple and took less than 30 minutes to do!  I think if you made several of these for your dining room table for Thanksgiving it would look stunning.  For now, it has found a home on our mantel 🙂
