Here’s how we made them:

Baked Cinnamon Donutsā€¦

Ingredients

  • Baker's Joy baking spray
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 extra large egg beaten
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2 TBS unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/4 cups whole milk
  • Topping
  • 8 TBS unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray 2 donut pans well.

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, melted butter and vanilla. Stir in the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients just until combined - do not over-mix.

Spoon the batter into the balking pans, filling each cup a little more that 3/4 full. Bake for 17 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.

Allow to cool for 5 minutes, then tap the donuts out onto a sheet pan.

For the topping, melt the 8 TBS of butter in an 8 inch sautƩ pan. Combine the sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Dip each donut first in the butter and then in the cinnamon sugar, either one side or both sides per your preference.

  6. Oh, I am making these soon! But a question for you – I’ve never seen a donut pan before (and obviously I don’t own one.) Can these be made in a muffin tin instead? What do you suggest as a pan substitution, please? Thanks!
