Before Jennifer and I ever even thought about creating a blog, we were always busy with our projects. Whether it was decorating our own homes or a friends, we just love decorating. We have painted lots of furniture, painted even more walls and have sewn curtains and pillows. Our favorite part when the project is complete, is to stand back and admire the transformation. Here are a few painted furniture makeovers with a splash of color.
Following are some furniture pieces that were created last month. One day, I got a Bee in my bonnet and wanted to do a quick project. I went down to our basement to see what I could get into trouble with. These two chairs have been sitting in our basement collecting dust for several years. If I recall, they were purchased at a yard sale for $4.00 each when Jennifer was in college. She used part of the set at her apartment. These chairs weren’t needed so in the basement they went.
Primed and waiting for their splashes of color:
I used Zinsser Gold primer spray. I only used one good coat.
Before:
We only have a couple of before and after photos but you will get the idea.
After:
This photo doesn’t do justice to the Lagoon Blue color. The hue is very bright. We haven’t had any sunshine in Atlanta for quite awhile. Don’t ask me why, I just gravitated towards this beach inspired color. The fabric remnant is a leftover from a recent pillow project.
Before:
I was fortunate enough to purchase this vanity bench at an estate sale for $2.00! Isn’t that amazing?
After:
This bench is so stinkin” cute! I love this fun, vibrant chartreuse color. I can’t believe that I found the modern print fabric in the Hobby Lobby bargain bin. I needed less than 1/4 of a yard and this remnant piece was just enough to cover my bench.
Before:
The paint color is Vintage Map by Valspar and it was leftover from a previous project. The fabric was procured from my personal (some might say “hoarded”) stash. Somehow this pretty aqua chair has made its way into Jennifer’s home. Well, it does match her decor perfectly and, technically, it is her chair. It looks great, don’t you think?
Painted furniture makeovers are an easy way to infuse your style into home decor. Have you painted any furniture lately?
Great transformation! It looks so fresh now!
