DIY Orange Clove Gardeners Soap – With Himalayan Salt

DIY Orange Clove Gardeners Soap with Himalayan Salt smells like a dream! I can’t get enough of the fresh orange and spicy clove fragrance combination. With the addition of Himalayan salt you have the added bonus of the scrubbing and exfoliating action. Perfect for cleaning gardeners hands.

My base is goat’s milk melt and pour soap.Using the melt and pour soap bases makes the job fast, simple and they always turn out beautifully.I purchase the soap base from the craft store or online from Amazon. Using a store coupon of 40% off or when the soap base is on sale at 50% off is the best way to save money. There are also soap bases available in cocoa butter, shea butter, castille, oatmeal, honey and more. My brand of preference is “Our Earth’s Secrets” as I have always had great results and we love their company mission statement.

To create this delicious fragrance, I used a goat’s milk soap base and added essential oils of orange and clove. No artificial coloring or added chemicals. Plus, I used a super cute bee design silicone mold. I was fortunate to find this one at a thrift store in Florida while on vacation. Previously, I used a silicone bee-patterned candy mold for smaller soaps.

Easily make your own custom bars of soap. This recipe is perfect for gardeners or mechanics who need the extra scrubbing action that the Himalayan salt provides.

Materials

• 1 lb melt and pour soap, cut into cubes
• 25 drops orange essential oil
• 10 drops clove essential oil
• 1/2 cup Himalayan Salt (feel free to adjust this amount)

Tools

• Old metal coffee pot for stovetop method - OR -
• Microwave safe bowl for microwave method
• Wooden spoon or stick for stirring
• Measuring cup
• Bee Silicone Molds

Instructions

1. Add soap base to an old metal coffee pot or microwaveable bowl.
2. Melt on medium high heat, stirring with a wooden spoon. -OR- Microwave on high for 30 seconds. Then microwave at 10 second bursts, stirring in between, until soap is melted. Make sure to cover the microwave bowl to avoid splatters.
3. Remove from heat. Quickly stir in orange essential oil and clove essential oil.
4. Pour melted soap into the bee silicone soap mold, filling only half way.
5. Sprinkle Himalayan salt over each soap mold.
6. Finish pouring and filling melted soap base onto each mold.
7. Sprinkle with more Himalayan salt.
8. Let soap dry and harden for about 1 hour.
9. Remove soap from molds and enjoy!

Notes

When adding the Himalayan salt to the melted soap too soon, it all sinks to the bottom of the mold. Which is really the top of your soap bar. This works well too - it just depends what overall look that you want.

This recipe makes four bars with a rectangular bee silicone soap mold. I prefer using the silicone molds over the plastic molds because removing them is so easy. The bars of soap literally pop out!

From the back side of the soap you can clearly see the bits and pieces of Himalayan salt.

When adding the Himalayan salt to the melted soap too soon, it all sinks to the bottom of the bee mold. Which is really the top of your soap bar. If you let the melted soap cool for just a minute, the pieces tend to lay on the soap rather than sink. I like this look as well.
