In our area of the world we are knee-deep in summertime activities. The start of the 4th of July weekend is just three short weeks away. We thought that this would be a great time to share 9 patriotic decor ideas that won’t break the bank!

Welcome to our Thrifty Style Team! This is the place where we get together with our talented and creative blogger friends every month. We each display, makeover, repurpose or transform something from our homes or thrift stores. A giant thank you to our friend Julie of Redhead Can Decorate for coordinating this wonderful group!  This months theme is all about summer and 4th of July. Here are 9 patriotic ideas – Thrifty Style Team.

While it isn’t officially summer until June 21st, we have been deep in summertime activities around our house. The weather has been unbearably hot this year. I’m sure that I say this every year LOL, but our temps have been in the mid 90’s for awhile now. There have been a lot of pool visits and water activities happening over here. I love decorating for 4th of July, but I don’t want to spend a lot time outside in the heat decorating. These 9 patriotic decor ideas are quick, easy and can mostly be done indoors.

Easy Patriotic Pinwheel Wreath

Last year I created an easy patriotic pinwheel wreath. The pinwheels are cute, durable and look amazing on the front door.

American flag toothpicks

I know it sounds crazy, but toothpicks can be used in your 4th of July decorating. You can easily find American flag toothpicks at Walmart, the grocery store, Dollar General or Amazon – to name a few. I like to buy these after the patriotic holidays on clearance. You can make a patriotic American flag toothpick wreath.

Tuck a few toothpicks into a vintage salt shaker.

You can even use them for a 4th of July tablescape.

4th of July place settings

Create an unusual centerpiece for 4th of July

I love using unique items to create centerpieces. This vintage bait bucket was a thrifted find from many years ago. It is perfect to use in summer decor. I added various American flags of different shapes and sizes to the center for a perfect patriotic display.

Patriotic Porch Appeal

If you have followed us for any length of time, you know that we have a slight pillow addiction. LOL. Pillows are inexpensive and a great way to easily change up home decor and showcase your personality. Even though this pillow is red, white and blue – it is perfect to display all summer long.

American flags of various sizes make for a perfect front door and porch greeting. Typically these flags are very inexpensive making them the perfect thrifty decor item. Add them to a basket for the front door.

I personally love tucking them into all of my front porch planters.

Red, white and blue walkway

The same holds true for the walkway to our front porch, Proudly display red, white and blue for a colorful sidewalk.

Patriotic Vignette

Indoors, show your pride with a patriotic vignette. Add blue flowers, gingham fabric, flags and a stack of books. I created this patriotic stamped book stack with a favorite quote.
