Easy Patriotic Pinwheel Wreath

 Make your front door looks festive for the 4th of July with this Easy Patriotic Pinwheel Wreath.

We each makeover, repurpose or transform something from our homes or thrift stores.  This month we made an easy patriotic pinwheel wreath. Let’s get started!

Have you had to clean out your garage recently? Or maybe a neglected closet? Since emptying our storage unit, it seems that I am in constant clean and purge mode. I am in the homestretch with about 20 boxes to go! The fortunate thing with this unloading, is discovering items that I had forgotten about. Like these 4th of July pinwheels.

They were purchased years ago at a dollar store. I thought that they would be cute lining my sidewalk, only to discover that they didn’t actually spin with the wind. Instead of donating the pinwheels, I decided to create a 4th of July wreath for my front door.

Supplies

• Foam wreath form – I used 14 inch ring
• Patriotic pinwheels – I used 8
• Hot glue gun and glue
• Loppers or other cutting utensil for wood
• Embellishment (optional)

How to Make a Pinwheel Wreath

This foam wreath form is from my stash. You can purchase one from the Dollar Tree or a craft store.

The stick – or stem – needed to be removed. For the ease of cutting, I used my garden loppers.

This made for quick and clean cuts. You could also use a small saw.

My pinwheels also had a thick plastic shield. This was removed because I thought it was too bulky.

Put it all together

I added the stem back into the pinwheel.

Next, I carefully added the stem ¾ of the way through the foam wreath.

Then I added hot glue into the marked hole.

This gives the pinwheel extra durability.

I repeated these steps for all 8 of the pinwheels, until the wreath was complete.

This cute “Let Freedom Ring” star is also from my stash. I simply placed it on the wreath hook and then added the wreath on top of it.

Not to sound braggadocios, but this wreath only took me 5 minutes to make! Once I had all of my supplies gathered, the wreath came together quickly. Isn’t this cute and festive?
