Welcome back to All the Buzz!

All the Buzz is a weekly wrap-up of our favorites and observations of the week. After taking a bit of a break from this popular series, we are back with new ideas for you. Here’s the latest and the greatest – All the Buzz – Easing into Summer!

Seen while shopping

After months of staying-in-place, sanitizing my home as if it were a hospital and social-distancing from loved ones – I decided to reward myself. I felt that the time had come to visit HomeGoods again. Armored  with my mask and hand sanitizer, my friend Linda and I drove one-hour to the closest location. We were giddy with excitement and anticipation of actually going inside a store again. With our lists in hand, masks covering our faces, we stormed the front door. We were welcomed by a pleasant greeter, who added us to his customer count (only 50 visitors at a time). Another greeter handed us sanitized shopping carts.

We were immediately struck with reality. Disappointment is not a strong enough word for how we felt walking into HomeGoods. Their shelves were empty of merchandise. The store was devoid of any seasonal goods for summer. No outdoor furniture, no cute pillows, no napkins, no decorative glassware – nothing.

It seemed like they were going out of business, which they are NOT. Because of the current virus situation, they can’t keep the store stocked and, according to staff, they are receiving less shipments. We will have to try again at a much later date.

Kevin and Laine Berry have restored homes in the past. This time they saved an 1870’s home from being demolished. It’s special for us as it’s just down the road a ways from us. They have lovingly named the house Louise and they share all of the restoration details from Louise’s perspective. You’ll find Saving the Big Little House on Instagram or their YouTube Channel.
