Are you ready for a guest bedroom makeover? Our navy blue and white bedroom evokes lake cottage style.

When guests come to visit and stay in our home, I want them to feel instantly relaxed. Especially in the guest bedroom. Before I gave this bedroom a makeover I sat down and really thought about the mood of the room and the elements it would include. Navy blue and white bedroom – lake cottage style.

The room was painted in Benjamin Moore colors of Hale Navy and Wedding Veil. My sunroom already looks so pretty painted in Hale Navy and I was really wanting to paint another room with this color. I thought the bedroom would be too dark with all of the walls painted, but with just a feature wall it is perfect!

Last week I showed you how I created this No Wake Zone sign. Guests will love it.

I couldn’t resist purchasing the Victoria feed sack pillow. Jenn and I discovered it several weeks ago at a vintage shop.

Narcissistic much? LOL The blue Nautica pillows came straight out of Honey Bees room. Things are getting ready to change in that room soon too so stay tuned!

Stripes to me are classic nautical style. I purchased two identical rugs, one for each side of the bed. Can I let you in on a secret? The rugs are bath mats! I didn’t want the rugs to slip and slide on the wood floors. Bath mats have rubber backing – problem solved. Oh, and they are a lot less expensive.

Vintage silver sugar creamers make perfect vases too.

Did I tell you how much I adore this pillow?

Last year I used a new-to-me product called Saltwash. It gave this sewing machine side table a beautiful beach weathered finish. Whenever I see vintage or weathered oars for $5 or less at thrift shops or vintage stores I snatch them up. These two look cute propped up in the corner.

Relax – you’re at the lake. Exactly how I want our guests to feel.

Remember this armoire makeover? And the book page magnolia wreath looks perfect hanging from the glass knobs.

This sweet dresser is a project I painted well before I started blogging.

The globes get to be displayed as a greeting to visitors when they enter the room. I attached the “Guest Cottage” sign to the side of the armoire. Another perfect greeting.

This large trunk was a free curbside find. Can you believe that someone threw this out?

I often wonder who F.P.Wyman was. It’s a sturdy trunk, so it became a makeshift table when placed on top of a foldout suitcase stand.

And now, one of my most favorite parts of the room – the pom pom bedskirt! Is this not the cutest thing? At one time I was really wanting the one from from a bigger store, for a MUCH bigger price, with a giant shipping fee. Plus, because I live in a rural area, there was another surcharge for extra delivery. So for a queen sized bedskirt it was going to cost me close to $130.00!!

Slightly ridiculous. I found this cutie on Amazon for $25!! If you are interested I would suggest acting quickly. They sell out fast.

This room has been a definite labor of love. Items have been collected over time and placed with thought and care.

We want our family and friends to be comfortable and happy when they come and stay with us!

Let me know what you think. Please be kind 🙂

Come back tomorrow. I will be sharing my fall front porch.

All the best,

Vicki
