Sunroom Decor for Summer…you never know when inspiration will strike!
When you are decorating a room in your house, where do you find your inspiration? It could be from a painted piece of furniture, a favorite flower from the garden or a treasured heirloom from grandma. On Mother’s Day Jenn and I were shopping at our fave store HomeGoods and I spotted these gorgeous turquoise and aqua pillows. The pillows were sold as a pair and they were on clearance for $9.99. That’s basically just $5.00 per pillow. Never mind the fact that I wasn’t even looking for pillows. I don’t need anymore throw pillows. But…it was the color, the color of the pillows beckoned me over and I couldn’t resist..I was smitten. Right then and there I decided that I just had to have these pillows.
I mean, look at it…aren’t you smitten too?
Turquoise is a perfect summer color.
A week later I was out in the garage rummaging through my colored glass stash. The lightbulb went off and my decor inspiration moment was born when I spotted this large turquoise vase. I knew that the sunroom decor would look beautiful with these new pops of color.
Other than my beautiful new pillows, all of the other pieces are from my stash or borrowed from other parts of the house.
This week I shared how I upcycled a flatware box into a travel memento box. It looks perfect on the sunroom coffee table.
This sofa is the perfect spot to curl up with a good book or a magazine.
The sunroom is my favorite room of the house. It has the most natural light throughout the day and it overlooks the woods outside.
My painted wing chair is still our most viewed post of all-time. “Find Joy in the Ordinary” is a favorite quote…and this pillow was in the quest bedroom in our old house.
Baskets are a great way to add texture to any room decor. This vintage oak splint basket was a great find that I treasure.
The only new item added to the decor was the pillows. Everything else I already had. By shopping my own home I was able to create a new look for the sunroom that feels fresh for summer and the season ahead.
With the neutral background the sunroom decor came together very easily. More than likely I will change the decor a bit more as summer progresses. We entertain a lot and I always like for my home to look different and fresh. Nothing too drastic – just a little tweak here and there.
I hope you have a fabulous weekend! Are you decorating for summer? See you back here on Monday!
Love love love these pops of color in your sun room! The turquoise is so pretty and it reminds me of all the great afternoons spent at the beach reading a good book, learning how to surf and running to the shaved ice truck at the end of the day. Hugs for a happy weekend, CoCo
Love these easy changes! We are building a new house right now and robin’s egg blue (as I love to call my version) is on my list. Beautiful!
Love the color pallett.
It’s amazing how those discounted pillows cranked up your creative juices and transformed your sun room into such a beautiful, peaceful space. Love it! 😊
So so pretty Vicki! I love all of the touches of aqua, perfect for summer!
I loved your tip to use turquoise to accentuate your sunroom! I’ve been looking for ways to spruce up the sunroom at my house. A splash of color could be just the thing I need!
