Fall has arrived to my front porch and I couldn’t be happier. As you know I have been anxiously waiting (albeit impatiently) for the official arrival of my favorite season. Fall exemplifies spending time with family and friends. For me this is also the kickoff of entertaining season. Al fresco dinners on the front porch, impromptu cocktail parties by candlelight and fireside get togethers. Some of my most favorite things to do are to invite people over for a special evening in my home. I love to cook and entertain – I typically create a menu and a special bev (cocktail) for the evening. I want people to feel happy and relaxed in my home with the sense that they never want to go home. When I was putting together my Fall front porch, this is the feeling that I wanted to convey – warm, cozy and inviting.

Welcome to Fall on the Front Porch…

Fall on the front porch

The doorway is decorated with a fairly traditional look. I used lots of different types of pumpkins and gourds in a variety of colors. When decorating my porch for Fall I want it to look festive and inviting.

When I went to the garden center to purchase mums, I fully intended to buy white ones. There was something about these burnt orange mums that just spoke to me. I knew that the color would look great on the front porch.

I was thrilled to score this blanket scarf at the Target Dollar Spot. Do you ever shop at Target? Right at the front of the store they have these amazing dollar bins loaded with the cutest stuff. It gets me every single time! Let me tell you…since I moved out to the country I had not been in a Target store for four months!! I realize this makes me sound shallow, but I’m okay with that 🙂 Last week I made the over-one-hour trek with my friend Linda (she needed a Target fix too). There was a frenzy of people and action at the bins when we arrived. We nudged our way in and I came away with the cutest stuff…like this blanket scarf!

This fall wreath is beautiful. It is made entirely of dried leaves and twigs.

The dried leaves are stacked on top of each other all the way around the wreath.

As I said, I love to entertain. Our little porch area is the perfect spot for evening get togethers and cocktail parties. I used one of my bleached drop cloths as a tablecloth. You can see how to do that HERE.

I layered a square of remnant fabric – gray and white with arrows.

The stacked place settings are cheerfully topped off with bright orange salad plates with polka dots. Mini pumpkins are used as place cards for each guest.

The wine barrel top makes a perfect table. We use it all of the time when we entertain outside. I made mini Moscow Mules and used the fabric pumpkins as decor.

Moscow Mules are a great fall cocktail and I will be sharing my recipe next week.

Aren’t these mini mason jars adorable. I really like the cute polka dot lids and yellow straws.

The porch wouldn’t be complete without a chalkboard. I created this one a couple of months ago. It started out as a child’s easel and I gave it a makeover…you can see that HERE.

I bought this galvanized watering can at an auction many years ago for .25 cents!

This cute fox hook was a recent purchase from TJMaxx for $2.99. Honestly, I wasn’t even sure what I was going to do with it but he was too adorable to pass up for that price.

As I was putting my fall porch together I was struck with an idea. When we sit outside it sometimes gets cool. I decided to hang Foxy on the porch wall and added plaid throws. This will be super convenient for guests when they get a little chilly.

Cute, right?

The table centerpiece is a rosemary topiary. I wish your screen was scratch-n-sniff! It smells heavenly.

Remember the faux galvanized bucket that I made a few weeks ago? I added sunflowers and greenery…now it is the first things that guests see when they come over.
