Y’all, I have been struggling with a bare corner in my house ever since Christmas and I just haven’t known what to do with it. It’s the kind of space that is large enough that it needs something and just really can’t be ignored any longer. At Christmas I had decorations there that filled the space, but since December it has looked like this…whomp whomp! Doesn’t this just scream depression?
Today I wanted to share with you how to decorate an empty corner in your home by just using a few simple items. I love these antlers that I have had for a while and wanted to incorporate them in my decor. I thought it would be fun to frame them like a piece of art and I found this frame on the curb years ago and it has been sitting in my parent’s basement for a while. I knew that it would be perfect for what I wanted to accomplish.
I hate to admit it, but I do not have a lot of plants in my home, but I thought that a plant was exactly what this corner needed. I went to Home Depot and they were having a sale on indoor plants and pots, so I got this awesome combination for only $18.00. It really does breathe life into the room. It needed a little bit more height, so I added this rustic wine box I had that was perfect.
The spool table obviously needed something on it besides just a lamp. I also wanted a little pop of color to help brighten the space. I went into my closet to see what goodies I could find and pulled these pieces together. I just love decorating with books and vintage cameras! I also found this yellow urn I had gotten years ago at Homegoods. Something needed to go into the urn to give it more depth and I found this awesome bag of decorative balls in the garden section of Homegoods for only $7.00…you can’t beat it.
For only $25.00 and using items I already had, I was able to transform this space from boring to fabulous in no time. I am loving how it turned out and it definitely brightens up the living room.
It’s easy to decorate your own empty corner…all you need is a great print for the wall and a tall houseplant to help fill the space. With these simple changes, you’ll be ecstatic with the awesome transformation.
