Hey y’all…did you get your fill of yummy food and treats yesterday? My goodness, we definitely over-indulged but it was such a beautiful and fun day spent with family. My youngest brother Glenn and his family hosted all of us this year, and they make us feel so special! We can’t wait to do it all again in a few weeks at my house!

Before I ran out the door to go to their home, I did a little bit of Christmas decorating. Being totally honest with y’all…my house looks like a bomb went off. Honey Bee brought the Christmas decor boxes up from the basement. I still have some Fall decor out. The family room is torn apart in anticipation of a new rug being delivered (my geriatric dog ruined the other one that I just put down in July) and…you get the picture.

So naturally, my first inclination is to create a wreath for the front door…why clean the house first. I have discovered if I ignore it, it doesn’t exist. Please tell me I’m not alone!

I think I shared with y’all that my Christmas decorating plan for this year is for it to be free to me. You read that correctly…I’m not spending one cent on any of my decor. I admittedly have a large stash and have been collecting Christmas related items since I was a little girl.

Every year I craft a new wreath for our front door. Something that I have always done is reuse and recycle my Christmas wreaths from previous years. Last year one of my wreaths looked like this…

Christmas Home Tour 2014 - traditional green and red decor. Also rustic and vintage decor. Lots of Santas, vintage Buddy L truck and tractorI removed the bow and letters and got to work. I laid out some items that I thought would pair well together on my recycled Christmas wreath. I am super excited about using these sleigh bells. A friend of my closed her antique booth last year and I was the lucky recipient. I can’t wait to hear them jing-a-ling each time the front door is opened and closed. The plaid ribbon seems just right for this wreath.

Here’s how I put it together…

The cute deer head is an ornament that a friend gave me last year as a hostess gift. Yes, I know – great friend!

I used plaid in my decor last year and will use a bit this year as well.

I was able to create this wreath in about 15 minutes. All items are attached with twine or they are just wrapped around the wreath.

Don’t be afraid to recycle a Christmas wreath of your own. Use what you already have on hand and use your imagination…multicolored ornaments, miniature toys, faux feathers and birds or another theme of your choosing. There’s no right or wrong as long as you love it.
