Hey there. We’ve been busy with projects, out of town guests and Jennifer’s bridal shower. I was limping around on my bad ankle so much that I wasn’t able to complete as much of the decor for the shower as I wanted to. One item not completed on the list was a super-cute and festive bow tie for my dog Starbuck, my adorable Shih Tzu. Now before you chastise me for dressing up my pet, I assure you that he loves to dress up. Truly…he always has. So I thought it befitting that he look extra festive and dapper for the bridal shower. I had leftover fabric from another project that coordinating perfectly with the shower color scheme.
I couldn’t find my measuring tape, so I just grabbed a piece of lace and measured Starbuck’s neck size.
I cut a piece of elastic the same size as the lace,
The fabric was cut double size of the lace. Each of our pets are different sized. The width of the fabric is your choice.
Fold right sides of fabric together…and sew the long side together – leaving both small ends open.
For the “tie” portion sew all four sides together, leaving a small opening to turn it right side out.
To thread the elastic through the collar piece, place a safety pin on one in and put it through one end of the collar. Be sure to hold onto the other end of the elastic.
When you have threaded the elastic through, hold onto the two ends and sew them together. Sew the collar closed.
I mean honestly – how dang cute is my Boy? Isn’t this adorable?

This project was fairly easy and took just minutes to make. He didn’t want me to take it off of him 🙂 It’s a shame that he couldn’t wear it for the bridal shower – but he sure is getting use out of it. He’s a hit in the neighborhood. Do you dress up your dog?
