I don’t know about your family, but mine loves peanut butter…we can’t get enough of it!  Lately I have been craving it even more so than usual and because I need to be eating lots of carbs and sugar right now, I decided to make homemade peanut butter cookies like my Granny used to make.  This is such a simple recipe and the great thing is, you probably already have all of the ingredients!

Granny’s Peanut Butter Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 stick of butter (1/2 cup)
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cup flour
  • 3/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

First you will mix the softened butter, peanut butter, egg, both sugars, and vanilla together.

Then you'll add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.

Now you don't need to grease your cookie sheet, but I do to be on the safe side.

You'll roll the dough into balls and place on the cookie sheet.

Then, using a fork that you've dipped in sugar or flour (I prefer sugar), press down.

Bake for 8 - 10 minutes.

After this you’ll begin to roll the dough into balls.

You’ll then bake them for about 10 minutes and after they’ve cooled down, you have delicious homemade peanut butter cookies.  They are best served with a cold glass of milk or even crumbled up in vanilla ice cream.

Although they didn’t turn out quite as good as Granny’s, I think she would approve 🙂
