Delicious Blood Orange Martini Cocktail!

Yummy Blood Orange Martini - the perfect Christmas cocktail. Fresh squeezed Blood Orange juice, vodka, orange liquor and simple syrup.

I love that Blood Orange season coincides with the holiday season. They are only available from December to about February. Now, I know the name doesn’t conjure up a warm, fuzzy Christmas feeling. But, if you haven’t tried this delicious citrus, you don’t know what you’re missing. Do yourself a favor and pick up a few Blood Oranges the next time you are at the market. The flavor is so different than an average orange. To me the taste is sweeter and tangy but not tart. The flesh really is blood red and the juice looks like punch. Here’s our recipe for a blood orange martini cocktail.

This cocktail is slightly sweet and the color is so pretty.

I made one with a sugar rim and one without, so that my Honey Bee and I could do a taste test. The simple syrup is enough sweetness for this cocktail. The sugar rim is not needed in our opinion. But we kept tasting just to be sure šŸ™‚
