Weathered Wood Farmhouse Caddy – Make New Look Old

One of my most favorite things to do is to make something that is new, look vintage. If I can’t own the real deal, this is the next best option for me. Before I share with you how I created a weathered wood farmhouse caddy – can I tell you what happened to us last night?

We were awakened in the middle of the night by a really loud noise. You know, the kind of noise that makes you sit straight up in bed? In our delirium we couldn’t figure out if it were a giant storm or somebody crashing through our front door. Upon further inspection we realized the noise was coming from the freezer portion of our refrigerator. Seriously? This couldn’t have happened in the daylight hours? To make matters worse Honey Bee left early in the morning for a trip. So, guess who got left holding the bag? I’m sure it’s something very minor to repair. But selfishly I have dreams of a brand new, French door, fingerprint resistant, state of the art, stainless steel beauty. Definitely dreaming!

Okay, back to why you’re really here.

Weathered Wood Farmhouse Caddy

This caddy was made in a class at the Haven conference we attended a couple of weeks ago. Immediately I knew that I wanted mine to look vintage and antique.

After I got home and recuperated from the conference 🙂 I made my vision a reality. All I needed was some sandpaper and my trusty can of Amy Howard’s Better with Age. This stuff is magic. You have seen me use it  before on my dining room table and the thrifted produce basket.

It reacts instantly on sanded, raw wood. If you follow us on Instagram, and we hope you are, I demonstrated in our Insta Stories how this product works. You just brush it on and let it dry. This is what it looks like after just one coat – no odor and it dries very quickly!

How great is that? Doesn’t it look like a vintage farmhouse caddy or tote?

I couldn’t resist adding pretty flowers to it and making a rustic centerpiece.

You can add clear or dark wax finishes to this too.

Instant vintage never looked so good! Plus the fact that it is so easy to achieve this great finish. I’m all about the quick and easy.

Don’t forget to pin this to your favorite Pinterest board…

Have a great weekend and we will see you back here on Monday!

You guys have finished several projects with this aging technique and I swear I love each one! They just keep getting better and better. Love the flowers you chose too. This farmhouse feel is so up my alley. Hugs, CoCo
