Y’all, we are so excited for this month’s Thrifty Style Team decor challenge. During the 4th of July holiday we were shopping at our local Goodwill store when we spotted the perfect project. We found what looked like an oversized produce farmhouse berry basket. Immediately we knew the perfect way to create a DIY aged market basket finish for this basket.

The thrift store price was just $1.01. How great is that?

You can see that the wood is very thin. The staples are oversized and adds to the vintage charm.

Vintage look…

It is lighter than stain. All you need is one coat applied to raw wood. This product has no odor and has a chemical reaction when applied to the raw wood. It makes it look like vintage barn wood, with a wonderful aged look. The effect is instantaneous.

DIY Aged Market Basket. Adding a single coat of Amy Howard's Better With Age makes the market basket look vintage.

Below is a perfect example of how well it works. You can see the difference between the before and after looks here.

We are going to have so much fun using our basket throughout the seasons. Won’t it look great in the Fall with pumpkins or gourds tucked inside?
