I don’t know about y’all, but my dogs are definitely a part of my family. That’s why we like to do something a little special this time of year and make them homemade dog treats for Christmas. Let me tell you, they love it! And the recipe is so easy to make and doesn’t take much time at all. You really can make this homemade dog treat recipe all year long and you likely have all the ingredients on hand.

All it takes is mixing the six ingredients together, rolling out the dough, cutting cute shapes, and then throwing them in the oven. We chose Christmas trees in order to be festive for the season. The homemade dog treats are also all natural, which I love.

Homemade Dog Treats

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 Cups of Whole Wheat Flour
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1/2 Cup of Canned Pumpkin
  • 2 Tbsp Peanut Butter
  • 1/2 Tsp Salt
  • 1/2 Tsp Cinnamon

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Whisk together flour, eggs, pumpkin, peanut butter, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl. After initially mixed all ingredients together I then used my hands to really mix everything well. You may also need to add a little bit of water.

Roll the dough into a ball. Then flour a hard surface and use a rolling pin to roll the dough out, which should be about 1/2 inch thick.

Use a cookie cutter to make a cute shape.

Bake in over for about 30 minutes, or until hard.

Is this buffalo check treat jar adorable or what?! I just had to get it when I saw it at Target. Plus I am all about the buffalo check right now.

These treats also make a great gift for other furry little friends…we’ll be bringing some along when we drop the “kids” off to be boarded next time. Let us know how much your dogs love their homemade dog treats.

XO, Jenn
