Summer Dining Room Refresh

Hey there… I’m so glad you are here because I would love to show you my dining room. I made a few changes and added a bit of color for Summer. I get requests all of the time that y’all want to see more of my home and I am definitely happy to oblige. So, come on in and I will show you around…

Summer Dining Room Refresh - moved things around and added a bit of colorBe forewarned – this post is definitely photo heavy. I guess I’m making up for lost time ๐Ÿ™‚

Summer Dining Room Refresh - moved things around and added a bit of colorI love the freshness that bright green brings to the room…

Summer Dining Room Refresh - moved things around and added a bit of color…I’m always ready to entertain. Remember when I gave this thrifted tray a makeover?

These napkin rings are handcrafted from vintage silverware handles. I love to use them whenever an opportunity presents itself.

IMG_1034The napkins were ordered online and were very inexpensive. They are reminiscent of grain sack fabric.

IMG_1060_2This painted buffetย used to be part of a two-piece china cabinet. I felt that it was too formal and stuffy for my taste. I sold the top portion and decided to paint the bottom buffet piece several years ago.

I knew I wanted floating shelves in the alcove above the buffet. I found a carpenter that made my dreams come true. He worked with me on the cost – I just needed to be patient, as he worked on this in his spare time. My patience definitely paid off – I am so very happy with how it turned out! Lots of space to display my treasures…

Summer Dining Room Refresh - moved things around and added a bit of colorIย painted and stained this buffet to highlight the carved details…

Summer Dining Room Refresh - moved things around and added a bit of colorI made the mini-chalkboards on the baskets…

Summer Dining Room Refresh - moved things around and added a bit of colorThe shelves are a wonderful space to showcase my wares…this giant antique dough bowl is one of my most prized possessions…

Summer Dining Room Refresh - moved things around and added a bit of colorI’m not sure who Edith is…but I like the way she thinks!

Summer Dining Room Refresh - moved things around and added a bit of colorI created this mini bar area in a corner of the dining room. This tray and folding stand were purchased at an estate sale for $2.00! The chalkboard was a DIY project – we used chalkboard paint on a thrifted silverplate tray. I use it to let my guests know what’s being served ๐Ÿ™‚

Summer Dining Room Refresh - moved things around and added a bit of colorI created this memo stand from vintage silverware and used them as placecards – you can find the tutorial here.

Love your creativity! Wish I had you to work on an old tool box I have with your chalk paint magic! BTW, Edith Wharton is a rather famous author.
