You know how much we love painting furniture, so we were so excited when a client reached out to us to update a credenza she had.  She is in the process of updating her den and this piece needed a little facelift.  There is just something about bringing an older piece of furniture back to life that we cannot get enough of.  I think part of it is being able to hold onto the nostalgia that certain pieces possess, but giving it new life with a new coat of paint.  Far too often people get rid of good pieces of furniture that just need a little TLC or repurpose.

Here is what we started with, which was a great solid piece of furniture, as well as some vintage drawer pulls.

Our client wanted the piece to be a cobalt color to match their new pillows and we knew exactly what color to paint. Napoleonic Blue (so regal!) is one of our favorite Annie Sloan colors and it matched her fabric perfectly!  Mom loved it so much that she almost didn’t want to give it back 🙂  We also used Rub and Buff to give the drawer pulls a silver look instead of brass.  We love this stuff…it is so easy to use and always gives us great results.  Don’t you just love how this turned out?

This chalk painted buffet makeover turned out great, if we do say so ourselves.  With a few coats of paint, this piece of furniture is now a bright pop of color and an amazing example of how you can turn any piece of furniture into something new.  We can’t wait to paint our next project!

    1. It was definitely hard to part with…we’ll just need to find a similar piece of furniture to do for ourselves 🙂

  3. Jenn and Vicki, this turned out Gorgeous!! What a beautiful color and statement this piece makes. LOVE it. Have a great day, Lisa

  4. Great job ladies! Love the color choice. You nailed it!

  5. Before: horrible (and I include the pulls).

After: amazing! It’s beautiful. What a great idea to make the pulls silver! I went from “I hope they change the pulls” to “woah! gorgeous”.
That lucky, lucky person who ordered the color change! She did have a vision, seeing beauty in that ugly (sorry, very personal opinion this) credenza and choosing cobalt blue but oh my goodness girls, you did an amazing job!
    The rub&buff was super inspired.

  6. Does the chalk paint have fumes? I really want to paint some dining room chairs chalk black, but I live in a NY apt. Last paint job I did, I about asphyxiated myself! LOL

  7. Totally new look! Awesome!
