Happy New Year

So happy to see you here for our first official blog post of 2015! We trust that you had a wonderful holiday season and are ready for a fresh start into the New Year.

All of our pretty Christmas decor has been put away, there’s definitely a little more thunder in my thighs thanks to sweet treats  and my boyfriends Mr. UPS and Mr. FedEx haven’t made an appearance at my front door in over a week now.

Typically after Christmas I have a tinge of melancholy, but this year it is different. I have a renewed vigor and excitement for the year ahead. Maybe it’s because my health is improving and I’m feeling energized for the first time in a long time. The New Year gives me an opportunity to reflect on changes I want to make in my life and to create clear and concrete goals of what I want to accomplish.

Jennifer and I were able to spend a lot of time together and map out a plan for the New Year. It was funny when we compared our personal lists with each other because they were very similar. Here’s a list of what each of us wants to accomplish in our homes this year and share with you on the blog:

Vicki’ Plans:

  • Clean, Organize and Purge – just about every room in my house needs this 🙂
  • Laundry Room Makeover
  • Upstairs Landing Makeover
  • Master Bedroom Makeover
  • Sitting Room Makeover

Jennifer’s Plans:

  • Organizing Closets
  • Organize Pantry
  • Master Bedroom Makeover
  • Living Room Makeover

We will both be restoring and painting more furniture for our homes and our booth at The Treasure Hunt. We each have a lot of decorating ideas and inspiration boards created for the rooms we want to makeover. Stay tuned!

We now have a Subscriber’s Mailing List for our blog!! Please take a moment to sign up at the bottom of the left margin. This way you can get the most up-to-date information from 2 Bees! We really appreciate you 🙂

Now, on to our fun and easy project!

I became excited about this project…a Rememberlutions Jar. The concept is, instead of making resolutions you add special accomplishments or memories to your jar. At the end of 2015 it will be a fun look back to see all of the fun and wonderful things that you did. I plan to add movie ticket stubs, concert tickets, special date nights, birthdays, vacations and time spent with family and friends.  And I plan to pack my jar to the brim!

I already had plenty of jars and materials on hand and I gathered them all on my kitchen table.

Happy New Year and Rememberlutions Jars. Add quotes, Word of the Year, photos and moments. Throughout the year add positive and fun things to your jar like movie ticket stubs, concert tickets, date nights, etc. At the end of the year you can look back at all of the good things that happened during the year. The alphabet vinyl stickers were an easy way to add a Word of the Year…

I added a strand of photos of special people in my life. I also added a skeleton key from my grandmother.

  1. I have to admit…it was fun.

  2. Love your rememberlution jars! What a neat idea. It’s so funny that I’m typically just like you…kinda melancholy after Christmas but this year does feel different for some reason! I’m not having any of that this year either, so hopefully it’s a sign of good things to come :). Can’t wait to see all that you and Jenn have in store this year!

    1. Thanks so much Amy! We can’t thank you enough for all of your support 🙂 I think 2015 will be the best year yet for all of us. We can’t wait to see what you two create after your painting class 🙂

  3. This is such a great idea Vicki! I love that it’s something the whole family can create together. You’re on it again this year and I can’t wait to see what 2015 has in store for you. Hugs to you and HB! CoCo

    1. Thanks CoCo! It was a lot of fun to create…but will be even more fun to fill up with happy memories 🙂

  4. Vicki and Jennifer. I LOVE this idea. It’s brilliant. So many times we set resolutions or high goals for the year and then when we reflect we feel bad or guilty about what we didn’t accomplish……speaking from experience….lol. This is a wonderful idea because it’s a great time to reflect on all the great things you did and great memories you made over the year. I think I need to do that too. Great idea xo Lisa n Happy New Year to both of you!!

    1. You are so right, Lisa! So many times we have written out well intention resolutions for the New Year – usually with sites set way too high 🙂 This Rememberlutions Jar allows us to concentrate on the positive and happy events of the year. We hope you do make one for yourself!

  5. Perfect way to kick-off 2015 🙂 Love the quote on your jar Vicki ~ you are ALWAYS a gal with a plan! I do something similar with my “life enjoyed bucket” philosophy, but your jars are way cuter than my bucket! Hoping for tons of good things to fill your lives and jars in 2015!! Cheers!! Bwg ~~~

  6. Oh Bobbi – I like the bucket idea as well. The jar is so personal for me with my inspirational quote and my word of the year. I keep the jar where I can see it to be sure to concentrate on the happy and positive things in my life. I am going to pack the jar full!

  7. Love this idea! And I love that your Honey Bee made one too! Sharing this with my girls. Great way for them to save high school and college memories!

    Hugs!!
    Angie

    1. Yes Angie, Honey Bee is a great guy and good sport. But, he really did appreciate this idea! So glad you liked it too!
