Bargain Art Work

We don’t know about you, but we love the bargain books section at Barnes & Nobles.  Not only have we found great cookbooks and novels that are great deals, but we have also found amazing coffee table books there as well.  I am currently in the process of zhushing up my living room and was in desperate need of some more artwork.  I already had two great white frames, but had nothing that I could put in them.  I had old prints in them from my last home, which I loved, but they unfortunately didn’t fit the decor of my home now.

I didn’t want to spend an arm and a leg for new artwork, so I immediately thought of Barnes & Nobles and hoped that they had a great book I could use with awesome prints.  And lucky for me they did!  I love photography and this book of Ansel Adams’ photographs was exactly the kind of thing I was looking for.

There were some really great photographs that I know I will use in the future for other rooms.

I loved this one, but Kara thought it was a little creepy.

I just used an exacto knife and cut as close to the seam of the book as possible.

Then I added them to the frames and absolutely love how they turned out!  This project only cost me $13 and only took about 20 minutes to do.  You can’t beat that 🙂

Now they’re both hanging in my living room, which is just about done.  Just adding all of the final touches.

The photographs definitely fit in perfectly with our house and I can’t wait to use some of the others in other rooms.  You should definitely check out your bookstore to see what hidden gems are waiting for you.  It’s a great way to get affordable art work 🙂

This is such a great idea! No playing, I’m working on a nature inspired office right now and I’ve been struggling to find the right artwork. Stop it with those black and whites, you know I’m loving!

Thanks CoCo! We love black & white photographs. Those would look great in a nature inspired office! Hope you post some photos when all done 🙂

I love this idea! I don’t think it ever crossed my mind to frame photographs from a book, but it looks fantastic! I can’t wait to try this in my own home.

(Side note: I randomly came across your blog and was drawn to it because I’m also part of a mother/daughter blogging team :). My mom (also named Vicki) and I have been blogging together for a few months. It’s so fun to find another M/D team. I’m headed over to your social media pages so we can follow you. Hope you both have a great week!!
