Christmas Card Holder

Like most of us, each year we get so many Christmas cards and each year we don’t really know what to do with them.  Do we put them on the fridge?  Do we set them out on the mantle?  I don’t know about you, but I just never like how those options look.

So this year I decided to do something a little different.  One of our good family friends gave us this door, which was original to a home built in 1908.  In our old house it served as our headboard, but unfortunately we haven’t had a purpose for it in our new home.

Then it hit me…I’m going to make this door the place we display our holiday cards on!

I wanted to incorporate a chalkboard in and at first I was going to paint this on.  Then I thought twice about it, not wanting to ruin such a great old door. Instead, I decided to hang a chalkboard from it with Christmas ribbon, which I just double knotted onto the back.

Then, I just used twine from the dollar store to make my lines.  I attached them using no-damage poster stickers (hopefully that’s true :) )

We just used small metal clips to attach the cards to the twine.

Now we have a great place to place to display our cards and if I do say so myself, I think it looks great!
