If you are like us then you too are probably obsessed with Downton Abbey.  We got a late start on watching it, but when we finally did watch, we just couldn’t stop, literally. For my mom’s birthday this year I thought it would be a great idea to give her a Downton Abbey themed cooking class that we could do together.

With the help of a friend, I found that Vino Venue had an upcoming class and I signed us up immediately.  Having never done a cooking class I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but it was so much fun!  First of all, our instructor Jess was great and helped us learn new techniques to use.  Also, our wine glass was never empty, which was an added bonus.

For our first course we made a shrimp canape that was followed by a smoked onion bisque that had so many great flavors!

Already full from this, we then had our main course of Beef Wellington, Potato Lyonnaise, and Brussel Sprouts.  The Wellington and potatoes were absolutely amazing, and although we are not huge fans of brussel sprouts, these were surprisingly good as well 🙂

For dessert we had Apple Charlotte, which I can honestly say was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. Even mom liked it and she typically does not like pie types of desserts.

Not only did we have great food, but we also got to create new memories together, which in our book is even better.

We are already planning our next cooking class and cannot wait!
